Kusatsu Station East Exit, 3 min — hand-wrapped gyoza, boiled dumplings and a Chinese izakaya
Hand-wrapped, with a crisp lace skirt.

Hand-wrapped gyoza with a crisp lace skirt, and the air of a Shanghai diner — here in Kusatsu.
In Shibukawa, Kusatsu, Shiga — a 3-minute walk from the East Exit of JR Kusatsu Station. Inside, the room recalls a Shanghai or Hong Kong diner, and the star is our hand-wrapped juicy gyoza. Every skin is made and folded by hand, and it fries up with a crisp lace skirt.
Boiled dumplings come in five kinds — shrimp, coriander, shiso, green pepper and lamb. All our gyoza are made without garlic, so you can drop in after work or on a weekend afternoon without a second thought.
The pork is Kurao Pork Baumkuchen Pork, a brand pork from Shiga, and the recipes are supervised by Gyoza Mania — a gyoza specialist awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2019. Our house-made zha cai is free-flow, and with counter seats it is easy to stop by alone.

What makes Nadeshico Gyoza-ro’s gyoza and sakaba special
What makes a hand-wrapped gyoza different?
We make the skins ourselves and fold every dumpling by hand. Fried, they lift a crisp lace skirt and the filling stays juicy; boiled, the same skin turns thick and chewy. The filling uses Kurao Pork Baumkuchen Pork, a brand pork from Shiga, and the recipes are supervised by Gyoza Mania, a gyoza specialist awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2019. Four pieces from ¥462 (incl. tax).
Why are the gyoza made without garlic?
None of our gyoza use garlic. That means you can stop by on the way home from work, or before meeting someone, and still eat as much as you like. The flavour comes from the pork and the hand-made skin rather than from garlic, so the boiled dumplings in particular taste clean and light.
What is Kurao Pork Baumkuchen Pork?
Kurao Pork Baumkuchen Pork is a brand pork raised in Shiga Prefecture, and we use it in the filling of our gyoza. It is one reason the gyoza hold their juices without relying on garlic. The room itself is built to recall a Shanghai or Hong Kong diner, with a neon sign, so the food and the setting belong to the same place.
How to use our takeout
Takeout runs from 17:00 to 23:00. Calling ahead on 077-599-1770 makes the handover quicker. Because there is no garlic, the gyoza are easy to take home and eat later, and the boiled dumplings travel particularly well. Please check with our staff for the dishes available to take away on the day.
